Melba is a passionate  Highly credentialed and experienced Occupational Therapist with over 35 years of experience working in a variety of settings and with diverse age populations including inpatient rehab, outpatient services, home health services, and skilled nursing facilities.

As an Occupational Therapist, her current primary field of care is the Adult population focusing on providing individualized interventions to clients, families, and caregivers to promote independence and safety in the areas of Activities of Daily Living and providing clients with education regarding healthy lifestyles to optimize the aging process and to maximize function.

Melba founded her company Design for Independence LLC to focus on providing home modifications and adaptations to allow people to Age In Place for as long as they can. She is dedicated to educating and training clients, family members, and the community about the importance of aging in place as it promotes a sense of control over one's life which in turn leads to better mental and physical health outcomes.
